When your child becomes unwell

Fever, earache or another new symptom? I examine your child, assess their condition and explain treatment and what to watch for at home.

When should I book?

When is immediate assessment needed?

A baby under 3 months with a temperature of 38 °C or higher needs urgent medical assessment. A clear deterioration or laboured breathing also needs urgent assessment. Call 116117 if you are unsure where to go.

Call 112 for severe breathing difficulty, blue colouring or if your child cannot be woken normally.

What will you take home?

A treatment decision, symptom relief advice and a plan for what to monitor. Antibiotics are prescribed only when indicated by the findings. Any medicine is selected and dosed for your child.

Your treatment and follow-up

  1. Home care

We agree treatment, recovery instructions and the signs that need a new assessment.

  2. Test results

If tests are needed, we agree who reviews the results, when you will hear back and what to do if no reply arrives.

  3. Follow-up

We agree when and where to seek further care. Your visit notes are available in OmaMehiläinen.

Contact Mehiläinen Töölö if your care instructions are unclear.
